The Apostle Paul wrote, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord…”(Colossians 3:23)
In other words, it really does not matter what you do, but it does matter how you do what you do. Scripture says to “work at it with all your heart.”
Thomas Carlyle was a Scottish philosopher, essayist, historian and teacher during the Victorian era. One of his most famous quotes was, “Men do less than they ought, unless they do all that they can.” Let me say that again. “Men do less than they ought, unless they do all that they can.” It means that a man always should strive to do his best. If he is not giving 100 percent then he is doing less than he should.
Too often, we become content with giving less than we can at work, in our marriages, in our parenting and in our friendships. Not giving as much as we can is bad enough, but the worst part of not giving all you can is the inevitable outcome. We end up in less fulfilling jobs, with less fulfilling marriages and less fulfilling friendships.
So give all you can today, and have a blessed day!
