Romans 12:11, Never be lazy in your work, but serve the Lord enthusiastically.

Colossians 3:23, Work hard and cheerfully at whatever you do, as though you were working for Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the master you are serving is Christ.

Since this is Labor Day week, I thought I would share five biblical principles about our work. Yesterday’s first principle was that you ought to work enthusiastically. Here is what the Bible says in Romans 12:11, “Never be lazy in your work, but serve the Lord enthusiastically.”

Principle #2 is that you must remember for whom you ultimately work.  Colossians 3:23, “Work hard and cheerfully at whatever you do, as though you were working for Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the master you are serving is Christ.” The truth is you aren’t really working for you, the company, your boss or a board of trustees. You are working for God. It really doesn’t matter what career path you have chosen, God is your ultimate boss. After all, it was God who created you with a specific set of skills, abilities, intellect and passion. Whether you are at home or the office this week, work enthusiastically for your real boss God!

Take care…and have a blessed week at work!
