Proverbs 18:21, The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

It’s the first week of the New Year, and we are going to continue looking at the wisdom found in the book of Proverbs to help us kick off 2017. We’ve talked about trusting in the Lord and guarding our heart. Today, we are going to look at Proverbs 18:21, “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”

The phrase, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me” is simply not true. Have you ever been on the receiving end of hurtful words? Maybe someone said something to you or about you that was untrue or unloving? The Bible says that just as we have the power to tear people down with what we say, yet we also have the opportunity to bring them to life. This New Year, I pray you look at how you can bring life to others with the way you speak. We interact and talk with people every day, let’s strive to honor God with our words.

Think about it and have a happy New Year!
