True Grace Saves Us – June 8, 2016

John 3:16, For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Ephesians 2:8, For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast.

Sunday, I began preaching a new sermon series titled, “Faces Of Grace!” I titled it “Faces Of Grace” for a simple reason.  We all need grace. Each and every one of us, men and women, young and old, single and married, we are the faces of grace.

Yesterday, we looked at John 8 where the woman was caught in adultery and some wanted her stoned. But Jesus said, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” Do you remember what happened? They all left because they were all guilty of some sin, even if it was not adultery. Then Jesus looked at the woman and said, “…neither do I condemn you.” Now- that is grace. She was sinful and deserved punishment, but Jesus chose forgiveness. True grace forgives us from our past sins, but that is not all. True grace also saves us. None of us are good enough to go to heaven apart from grace. The only way to heaven is through the doorway of God’s grace. We can’t earn heaven; we can’t buy heaven; we can only go by God’s grace. Read Ephesians 2:8, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast.”

If you have never started your personal relationship with Christ, begin today.

Acts 16:31They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

Romans 10:9-13– If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”[e] 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
