And The Lord Gave – August 3, 2016

Daniel 1:1, In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it. 2And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with some of the vessels of the house of God.

The book of Daniel begins by saying, “…Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it. 2And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand…” Babylon had a lot of terrible things going on in its day. This was a nation that was far from God, and because of that, it was caught worshipping other gods and even people. Circumstances were not looking good for the Babylonians.

You can relate a lot of things with the Babylonians to our day and age. Just like the Babylonians, today we have terrible and tragic issues going on, but if you recall what the verse says, “And the Lord gave…” God was in complete control of the whole situation. He gave His own people, who faithfully worshipped Him, into the hands of their enemy. This happened so that more people would come to know Him, and all this was according to His will. You can look ahead and see the things that Daniel and his friends would go through and how God was in complete control of every situation. God is in control today, so do not lose sight of Him. Be faithful to God and follow His will.

Think about this and have a blessed week!
