In California, the search is on for a woman who won the California lottery. She purchased the $23 million dollar winning ticket 5 months ago, and she now has until November 26 to claim her prize, or she will forfeit it.
Even though pictures of the individual who purchased the ticket have been posted, sadly, she remains unidentified. Can you imagine if you had purchased the winning ticket but simply failed to claim your prize?
In Luke 15, Jesus tells a parable about a shepherd who lost a sheep. His concern for the one lost animal was so deep that he left the other sheep and went after the one that was lost. After finding the sheep, the shepherd returned home. Out of excitement, he called his friends and neighbors over and said, “Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.” Likewise, Jesus said, “…He had come to seek and to save that which was lost!” His concern for the lost is as deep as His excitement over one person putting his/her faith in Christ.
Remember, too many of us ignore the prize every day. Some 2000 years ago on the cross, Jesus paid for a winning ticket of grace and love, and all we have to do is claim it by faith. (Eph. 2:8-9)
Perhaps you are that lost sheep Jesus is looking for today.
Think about it, and have a blessed day!
