Time Eternal – May 25, 2016

2 Peter 3:8, But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

When I was little, time would move so slow. I remember going on road trips in the summer and thinking, “Are we ever going to get there?” Now time moves so much faster. It seems like just yesterday I became a father, but my son is already 3.5 years old. Often we focus way too much on the time now rather than have an eternal perspective.

2 Peter 3:8, “But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.” It’s hard to think about eternity. I literally can’t wrap my mind around it. But we are going to live in eternity one day, and the decisions we make today have an eternal impact. What car you drive won’t matter to you when you are in eternity. The house you have today wouldn’t last one day in God’s time, which is 1,000 years. Spend some time today doing things that matter for eternity. And by the way, the only way you can do that is through a personal relationship with Jesus.
