Spiritual Health – November 14, 2016

1 Peter 2:1, So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander. 2 Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation— 3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good.

Why do infants long for milk? Why do they cry when they are hungry? It’s simple, because they naturally know that it’s the milk that provides the necessary nutrients for them to grow and be healthy. No one has to tell an infant they need milk. They just intuitively know it.
It’s the same way with our spiritual health. We know we need spiritual milk (spiritual nutrients); however, too often we don’t get it. We don’t get it because it’s not available, we don’t get it because we choose not to.
That’s why the Apostle Peter says, “Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation.” (1 Peter 2:2) Take your cue from an infant whether your faith is new or old.
Whether you are single or married, if you want to grow spiritually you need spiritual food, and that spiritual food is God’s Word.
