Proverbs 27:17, As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.

It’s the first week of the New Year, and we are going to continue looking at the wisdom found in the book of Proverbs to help us kick off 2017. We’ve talked about trusting in the Lord, guarding our heart, and using our words to bring life.

Today, our passage is Proverbs 27:17 which says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” Have you ever tried to sharpen a knife by leaving it on the counter? It doesn’t work! A knife needs something similar or stronger to sharpen it. I know it’s a silly example, but many of us walk through life without letting other people speak truth into our lives. Like a knife sitting on the counter, we expect to get sharper, but no one is there to help us grow. The Bible says much about having good friends, and this New Year, I challenge you to surround yourself with people who will sharpen you into a person who brings honor and glory to God.

Think about it and have a happy New Year!
