Explore God: Who Is Satan? – October 1, 2015
Isaiah 14:12, How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations.
1 Peter 5:8, Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
John 3:16, For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Sunday, I asked the question, “Why Does God Allow Pain And Suffering?” To really understand pain and suffering, we have to acknowledge that there is absolute good in the world as well as absolute evil. The good is God and the evil is Satan.
Satan is the ultimate enemy of both God and man; he is silver-tongued and skilled at deception.
According to the Bible, angels were given a free will. They could choose to obey God and live in perfect fellowship with Him, or disobey and be cast out of that relationship.
Satan, which means “The Opposer” in Hebrew, set himself up as both the enemy of God and mankind. Still today, Satan fights against us seeking our ultimate downfall. In John 10:10, Jesus says, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” So, Satan is the one who steals, kills and destroys, in other words, he’s all about pain and suffering. However, Jesus came to remove all the pain and suffering that Satan brings, and that’s where true life is found.
Think about it…and have a blessed day!
