Lesson 5- A Genuine Faith Knows the Importance of Bridling its Tongue.

James the brother of Jesus tells us,

“26 If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless” (James 1:26).

James used the metaphor of the bridle because this small object powerfully moves a massive horse in any direction. The same is true of how we use our tongues- This small muscle often times determines the direction of our lives- if we use our tongue to tear others down, chances are our lives are ineffective. On the other hand-if we use our tongues in the right way to build up and encourage- chances are we will be effective in all directions.
So saddle up some self-control, rein in your unwelcomed comments, and bridle that tongue.
Think about it, and have a great day!
