I recently read an article about Rowan Atkinson; most of us do not know that name, but we do know the name of the British actor “Mr. Bean.” In 2011, he had an accident in his car, a rare McLaren F1 Sports Car, and a crew worked on the damage for over a year. The good news is that it is fixed. The bad news is that the repair bill was $1.4 million dollars. One employee from the insurance company revealed that the repair was so expensive due to the quality components used to make an F1. (For example, part of the engine bay is gold because it is considered the best heat conductor.) And, why would someone pay over a million dollars to fix a car? Atkinson says, “IT’S WORTH IT!”
As we look back on Easter, some still ask, why did Jesus have to die on the Cross? The simple answer is this, “God thinks we are worth it!” Here is how Paul put it in Ephesians, ”In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.” Ephesians 1:7
Did you get those words? We have redemption; we have been paid for in accordance with God’s grace. In other words, we were damaged by sin, but God viewed us as valuable enough to fix. Yes, our heart’s repair took sacrifice and came at a great expense! Yes God could have discarded us to the consequences of a sinful life without hope! But NO, “We are worth it!” God sent His son because He believes we are worth it.
Think about it, and have a blessed day!
