I just read about a college student named Seb Smith who landed the best summer job ever. He beat out over 2,000 other college students for a summer job that will take him to the best resorts around the world to simply test their water slides.

When he applied for the job, all he knew was that he had to be “mad about water parks, willing to travel, comfortable in swim-wear and happy to get wet at work.” Actually, he thought that he was applying to be a Lifeguard.  As you might imagine, the Design Technology student said he is “…absolutely over the moon to be chosen as the new slide tester – and can’t wait to get started in his new job.” Can you blame him?

While you will probably not be off testing water slides this summer, you probably could enjoy your current employment more. Seek ways to make the office an appealing place; invest in relationships at work so there is a feeling of TEAM- not isolation. Laugh a little more while on the job (even if it means laughing at yourself). Smile when you don’t feel like it, and work hard when you don’t feel like it… and, before you know it… you just might feel excited about the work you do each day.

Solomon wrote, “…there is nothing better than that a man should rejoice in his work, for that is his lot in life” (Ecclesiastes 3:22).
Also elsewhere in Song of Solomon he said, “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might…” (Ecclesiastes 9:10).
As you head to the office today, go with a new enthusiasm.
Think about it, and have a blessed day!
