Recently, two moms ended up in a fistfight at the Seattle Zoo. If that weren’t bad enough, the fist fight took place in front of a bunch of 4-6 years olds at the Zoo’s annual Easter egg hunt. So here is the story… Two moms go to the Easter Egg hunt and get into a shoving match trying to help their kids collect the most eggs. Punches were thrown; the police were called, and one mom ended up with a bloody nose. Really?
As I thought about that story, I was amazed that adults could lose perspective on the goal of an Easter Egg Hunt—a good day for the kids and a little candy. However, before I judged too harshly, I was reminded that sometimes it can be easy to lose perspective, and many of us often forget focus in many areas of our lives, especially our spiritual lives.
The clear goal to live by faith, share God’s love, and spread God’s word can be easily befuddled as our daily lives become complex. And, that is why the Apostle Paul reminded us to “…press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:14
So make sure you keep the main thing-the main thing today and have a blessed day!
