Matthew 5:13-16:

13“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. 14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Did you know there are 8 ways to spot a counterfeit bill?
The number 1 way to spot a bill according to the article was to look at the portrait. According to the article from the Secret Service, “The portraits on counterfeit money can sometimes look different from the portraits on real bills. On a real bill, the portrait tends to stand out from the background. However, on a counterfeit bill, the portrait’s coloring tends to blend too much with the rest of the bill.”
According to the Secret Service, “…this difference is due to the different printing processes between real and counterfeit money. They noted that real currency uses printing methods that cannot be replicated by anyone else.”

In the same way, I think too many churches and churchgoers present a counterfeit Christ in the way they worship and live their lives. Our worship tends to be lifeless and our lives tend to blend in with the rest of the world. But, as Scripture reminds us, Christ was anything but lifeless, and He sure did not just blend in with the background of his few, short years on earth.
In Matthew 5, Jesus says that followers of Christ ought to be “Salt & Light”. In other words, true Christ worship and true Christians live lives that “Stand Out” and are anything but “Lifeless”.

Think about and have a “Stand Out” day!
