I just read about a $120 Egg Sandwich created by Australian Chef Carla Jones.  It features: one duck egg, bacon, smoked potatoes, cheddar cheese, caviar, truffles and a host of other ingredients on a bun.   So granted, it is no ordinary egg sandwich, however, it is just a breakfast sandwich that costs $120.

So, I wondered what other productive spending could take place using $120.  Today, we do not have to look far to see people suffering from lost jobs, disabilities or illnesses.  The hard times in our communities, our country and our world remind me of the parable that Jesus told encouraging us to minister to the poor around us.

Jesus said,  “Then the King will say to those on his right, Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,  I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me”  (Matthew 25:34-36).

While most of us will not rush out and spend $120 on a suped-up egg sandwich, we may have opportunity to help the poor today, and that is a reward that will stick with you past lunch time.

Think about it, and have a blessed day!
