I recently read an astounding story about a simple car worth only $600 that racked up over $100,000 in parking tickets.
It seems that the car, which according to estimation is worth about $600, sat in a Chicago area airport parking lot for several years and racked up some 678 bright orange parking tickets.
Those 678 parking violations totaled over $100,000. Now the city of Chicago is trying to sue the previous owner of the car to pay up, but the previous owner said she is not paying the tickets claiming that she had sold the car well before the first parking ticket was issued at the airport.
As I thought about that story, I was reminded that no one would ever pay such a high price for something that was worth so little. However, as I reflect on God’s grace, I am reminded that God did just that over 2,000 years ago when He sent his son to pay the price tag for our sin.
In the book or Romans, Paul wrote, “God demonstrated his love towards us in that while we were helpless, hopeless and worthless Christ died for us.”(Romans 5:8)
Think about it, and have a blessed day!
