No Shame In Hope – October 31, 2016

Romans 5:5, Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us… 8while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

It’s ‘No Shame November’ at Cottonwood Creek and today let’s recognize and honor those who have held their heads in shame for over 70 years. That would be the fans of the Chicago Cubs.
Throughout the years they kept on hoping and believing in their Cubbies to bring a World Series back to Wrigley Field for the first time since 1945. All their hope did not disappoint, and they are back in the World Series this year. My good friend, State Representative Matt Krause, posted this on Facebook, “My dad is 70 years old. My daughter Ruthie is 7 weeks old. Tonight, they will have both been alive for the same number of Cubs World Series games. Go Cubbies!”

It’s that kind of tenacious, unending and steadfast hope that the Bible encourages us to have in tough times. The Bible tells us in Romans 5:5, “Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us…8while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Now that is real hope in God’s real love and  a real Savior.
