Ephesians 1:7, In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.

Turkeys are in constant danger of losing their lives just for being a turkey. It’s in their nature to be who they are, and therefore, they are hunted and harvested for their meat, just for being a turkey. Since the middle part of the last century, U.S. Presidents have been granting pardons to Thanksgiving turkeys, allowing them to retire in feathered luxury on a nice farm. I’m sure that if the turkeys could understand, they would want to gobble an expression of thanks to the president for their forgiveness and their newly found life and freedom.

Because of our human nature, we can at times be turkeys. We mess up, make mistakes, make bad choices, etc. The Bible calls it sin. Just like the Thanksgiving turkeys, we need a pardon! Our pardon and forgiveness are available through Christ Jesus. The Bible says in Ephesians 1:7, “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.”

That is the ultimate pardon, for which we can certainly celebrate at Thanksgiving!
