3 John 2:2, Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.

Romans 12:1, Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.

At Cottonwood Creek Church, I’ve been presenting a series entitled, “Life Matters More When We Honor God!” This past Sunday, I spoke about honoring God with our physical bodies. We often hear that we need to honor God with our spiritual growth and rightly so; however, the Bible has a lot to say about honoring God with our physical health as well.  3 John 2:2, states, “I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.” We all understand our need for being spiritually healthy and honoring God, but it is just as important that we honor God by being physically healthy as well.

One of the primary reasons is so that we can serve God faithfully. John Broadus once said, to be an effective witness for Christ, we should pay careful attention to our health and “The long hours in the study should be balanced by a careful diet and regular exercise.” So, as we begin this New Year, let’s commit to being BOTH physically and spiritually fit.

Think about that and have a blessed day!
