Everlasting Joy – December 16, 2016

Isaiah 35:10, and those the Lord has rescued will return. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.

You might remember the Miss Universe contest in 2015 where host Steve Harvey wrongfully declared Miss Columbia the winner- when the contestant from the Philippines had actually won.
After the Columbian candidate was crowned as the winner, she waved her country’s flag as she blew kisses to the audience. Moments later, the host exposed his mistake and the devastated contestant was now runner-up. Her excitement spiraled to disappointment within minutes when the coveted crown was taken off her head and put on Miss Philippines. The joy was temporary.

The Bible says in Isaiah 35:10 for those who love God, “…everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.” Joy and gladness defeat sorrow and sighing, and the crown of joy will last forever. There might be seasons in your life where you might feel like your crown has been taken away or your greatest victory was short-lived, but Christmas is our unending victory through God’s Son, Jesus Christ.

Cottonwood Creek and I wish you and your family a very merry Christmas! Take care and have a blessed weekend!
