This Day In History – June 1, 2016

Today is June 1, and some very interesting things happened on this day in history, such as:

1861 – The first skirmish of the Civil War took place at a Virginia courthouse
1892 – General Electric began operations
1938 – Baseball helmets were worn for the first time
1954 – Linus, the character in Peanuts, found his security blanket for the first time
1999 – Merrill Lynch announced that stock trading on the internet would be coming soon.

History is full of interesting events, many of which changed the way in which we live. A truly compelling time in history was when Christ came to earth. He lived, died and was raised from His tomb in order to show the Father’s great love for people. A great question to ask ourselves is, “Did this great time in history change the way in which I live?”

The Bible tells us that a life changed by Christ will be marked by love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness and self-control. Perhaps today will be your own great day in history when you ask God to change your life through Christ.
