Colossians 3:2, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”

The legendary Green Bay Packers coach once said, “Perfection is not attainable, but if we pursue perfection we can catch excellence.” That is a pretty good thought. None of us can ever be perfect; however, most of us can be better than we are by simply setting our sights on something a little better than.

The Apostle Paul said something similar, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” (Colossians 3:2) While we will never be able to completely distance our thoughts and actions from this world, we can take or move our thoughts and actions to a higher level. Although we will never reach perfection we can move to a place of excellence by taking small steps.

Choose one area in your life today, and set your mind on the things above. Perhaps you would focus on your attitude: choose a good attitude and not a bad one. Maybe you might consider your words: choose positive words and not negative ones or possibly, you might examine your relationships: choose positive interaction and not negative ones. You just might surprise yourself at the progress you can make one goal at a time.

Think about it and have a blessed day!
