Isaiah 30:15, This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength…”

Notice those words rest and quietness.

An article I recently read pointed out that as Americans we do not get enough simple silence and quietness in our lives. We are constantly bombarded by music, advertising, TV, and our phones 24 hours a day. However, God created us with a built-in need for rest and silence, both physically and spiritually.

The Bible says, “Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work…” Exodus 20:9-10

When Jesus walked the earth, he modeled this idea of quietness and rest. The Bible says, “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where He prayed.” Mark 1:35

Take some time today to find some silence and quietness. Unplug and just enjoy some silence, contemplation and prayer.

Think about it,and have a blessed day!
