We humans like to measure everything. We measure height or length in terms of inches, feet, yards or meters. We measure time in millennia, centuries, decades, years, days and nanoseconds. We measure degrees in Celsius or Fahrenheit.
The Bible tells us that regardless of how hard we try, we just can’t measure God’s love and forgiveness! The Psalmist said:
8 The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. 10 He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. 11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His love for those who fear Him (Psalm 103: 8, 10, 11).
There is no measuring stick for God’s Love and there is no determining how far God has removed our sins from us. That is a God-sized thought for the day. However, there was a little key you may not have picked up on in the verse. It says, “For those who fear Him.” In other words… for those who love, honor, worship and respect God, there is no end to His love and Forgiveness. Now that is an encouraging thought!
