James 1:19, My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.
Romans 12:15, Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep.
Today concludes our study of the key characteristics of being a good friend. Yesterday, we discussed two traits for being a good friend. First, get more interested in others than you are in yourself. And second, do not be a chronic complainer.
A third quality of being a good friend is:
You must learn to be a GOOD LISTENER. Here is a simple truth. You become a better friend with your ears than with your mouth. You must learn to listen.
The Bible says, “….be quick to listen and slow to speak… James 1:19 If you are always talking and never listening, chances are you are limiting your friendships.
A final quality of being a good friend is:
You must learn to be SYMPATHETIC. We have to develop sympathetic hearts to be a good friend.
The Bible says, Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep.
If you are going to be a good friend you will have to learn to rejoice with others when they have a success in life regardless of how your day is going. And the reverse of that is also true. We have to learn to weep with others when they are weeping.
I pray this week that I have given you some good suggestions on choosing and being a good friend. Now- let’s go make a difference!
Take care and have a blessed weekend!
Take care, and have a blessed day!
