1 Peter 3:10-12, For “Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit; 11let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it. 12For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”

There are two important ideas that come from this passage. First, it is imperative that we repent from our sins. The second is that God looks upon the righteous but turns His back to the unrighteous. In our repentance, we cleave to the blood of Jesus, knowing that God is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins through His sacrifice. By doing this, we are seen by God as righteous, not by our own doing, but by the righteousness of Jesus. Our obedience is a response to this undeserved grace. The emphasis on keeping from deceit, turning away from evil, and seeking peace are all actions that require our obedience.

Be encouraged by the grace of Jesus today! Even in our sinfulness, God sees Jesus and calls us His children.

Have a blessed day.
