I look through the headlines every morning, and I can almost always count on seeing something about health. I believe that eating healthy and working out are important things that improve ones quality of life. However, at the end of the day if our spiritual health is not in check, we are missing what is most important. Being spiritually fit is similar to being physically fit, and we can approach it in similar ways. If you have never worked out, you are not going to be able the bench press 300 pounds in one day, but if you stay at it long enough you might be able to get there some day. You may not desire to read your bible for several hours or spend hours in prayer at first, but start somewhere.
I don’t advise trying to lift 300 pounds on your first day in the gym because you probably won’t be able do it, and I would also suggest not trying to spend 4 hours in Bible reading and prayer on your first day of pursuing God because you probably won’t be able to do that either. Rather spend 15 min with God today, and you will be amazed at how strong spiritually you will get over time.
James 4:8 says “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.
