As a Pastor, I’m often asked by individuals if God can forgive them for their past sins. Then, sometimes they will describe the sin, which is in fact pretty bad. I have realized over the years, that many people who asked me that question are actually asking me two separate questions. The first question is, “Can God forgive me of a certain past sin?”
To that question the answer is simply yes. Isaiah 43:25, says, “I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.”

So the answer to the first questions is yes, God can forgive you. However, I have found over the years that people are also asking a second and more personal question. “Can I forgive myself for what I’ve done?” That can be a difficult question to answer because we always remember our wrongdoings and our conscience always reminds us of our mistakes.

So how do I respond to that second question? I simply ask, “Can you do what God did and simply forgive yourself?” Remember, God has forgiven you for whatever you have done, so go ahead and forgive yourself!

Think about that and have a blessed day!
