FACING GIANTS IN LIFE & WORK DAY FIVE

1 Samuel 17:46-47, “This day the LORD will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. 47 All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”

This week we’ve been talking about overcoming the giants in our lives. We all have giants. Yesterday I gave you the first two steps in overcoming life’s giants. They were:
Step One: Remember How God has helped you in the past.
Step Two: Use the tools and abilities God has given you.

Step three is: Ignore the dream busters! If you look at the story, no one encouraged David at all. The soldiers discouraged him, his brothers disapproved of him, and King Saul doubted him. David’s only option was to ignore them and go face the giant on his own.

Step four is: Expect God to help you for His glory. When David went out to fight against the giant this is what he said, “46This day the LORD will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down… 47for the battle is the LORD’s, and He will give all of you into our hands.”

Did you get that? David wanted to face his giant so God would get the glory. Too often, we want to achieve something great so people will think we are great. Instead, when we pursue God’s dream for our lives we want God to get the glory. When we want God to get the glory, He is going to give us blessings.

Think about it and have a blessed weekend!
