FACING GIANTS IN LIFE & WORK DAY FOUR

1 Samuel 17:36:  Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God. 37The LORD who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.” Saul said to David, “Go, and the LORD be with you.”

1 Samuel 17:38:  Then Saul dressed David in his own tunic. He put a coat of armor on him and a bronze helmet on his head. 39David fastened on his sword over the tunic and tried walking around, because he was not used to them. “I cannot go in these,” he said to Saul, “because I am not used to them.” So he took them off. 40Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine.

This week I’ve been talking about facing the giants in our lives that keep us from achieving our dreams.  So far we have examined:  Personal discouragement; disapproval by others; and doubt in our own abilities.

Today, let’s look at 2 steps that will help you overcome the giants in your lives.

Step One: Remember how God helped you in the past. In 1 Samuel 17:37, David said, “The LORD who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine…” David was able to reflect back on past times in his life that God helped him.

Step Two in overcoming life’s giants: Use the tools God has given you. The Bible tells us that King Saul wanted to send David out to fight Goliath with his armor and sword. But David said, “I can’t go fight in these.” He took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag and with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine.

Those are the first two steps in overcoming life’s giants. Remember how God has helped you in the Past and use the tools God has given you.

Join me tomorrow and I will give you the last two steps in overcoming the giants in your life.

Take care and have a blessed day!
