“Don’t Dwell On Negative Thoughts!”

Philippians 4:8, Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

Recently, I read an article about common characteristics of people who are generally happy. As I looked at those characteristics, I thought, every one of those comes straight out of the Bible.
Yesterday, I shared the first characteristic which was “happy people don’t dwell on past failures.”

The  second key is, “happy people don’t cloud their minds with negative thoughts.” The truth is our thoughts DO matter. What we think or believe will determine how we act. Life will be bad if you only think about the bad, and life will be good if you think about the good. If you think everyone around you is a jerk and out to get you, there is no way you can enjoy the day. Paul wrote the Book of Philippians from a Roman jail. If there was ever a time to think negative thoughts, that was it. Instead, the Apostle Paul said, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”  If you want to be happy, don’t cloud your mind with negative thoughts.
