The new weight loss code words are “Crowd Out, Don’t Cut Out!”
According to new research, the secret to losing weight is crowding out and not cutting out. Crowding out is the term currently used in nutritional circles that describes how to eat in a healthy way. In other words, you literally crowd out the junk food you want to eat with healthy food you should eat.
Here’s how it works. Before you dig into “the junk food” you really want to eat, you eat something healthy first leaving less room in your stomach for the junk. The best research suggests an apple because it is healthy and digests very slowly. So, before you grab that junk food today “think about crowding out the bad stuff by eating the good stuff first!”
The Bible suggests we take the same approach with our thoughts. The Apostle Paul said we should crowd out the bad thoughts with the good thoughts in Philippians 4 by saying, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”
As you think about things today, apply the principle “crowding out and not cutting out” for a healthier body and mind.
