Amazing Peace – December 22, 2016

Colossians 3:15-  Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

This week we’ve been looking behind the music of some of the greatest Christmas carols of all time. Today, I want to look at that Christmas favorite, “O Come All Ye Faithful.” It was originally written in Latin in 1743, and eventually translated into English about 100 years later.
Read these words from one of its verses:

O Come All Ye Faithful, Joyful and triumphant,…. Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing;…O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.

Those words take us straight back to that first Christmas morning when Luke records the actions of the shepherds found in Luke 2:15-18, “The Shepherds hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the Baby, who was lying in the manger. 17When they had seen Him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18and all who heard it were amazed….”

Their first response was to God and to adore the Christ-child! My prayer is that your response will be the same this Christmas, and that you will come as one of those, faithful and adore Christ the Child! Because of Christ’s birth, believers have the opportunity to let the peace of Christ reign in their lives, and that in itself is AMAZING.

The Cottonwood Creek family and I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas.
