Christians Are Just Forgiven, Not Perfect – July 11, 2016

Colossians 3:5, Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry…7You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived.

In the above verses, notice the Apostle Paul tells us that we must put to death those earthly things, and then he lists some of the sins. From time to time people will say something like this to me, “You Christians think you are perfect.” My immediate response is, “Not at all. Christians aren’t perfect, we are just forgiven.” Did you hear what Paul said when he wrote, “You used to walk in these ways…” In other words, Christians are guilty of the same sins as everyone else. If we don’t put to death those sins, we can fall right back into them just like everyone else. That thought reminds me of a little poem which says, “Lord, may I live that all may see, the love of Christ revealed in me.”

That’s my prayer for us today that others would see the love of Christ revealed in us.

Think about it…and have a blessed day!
