Five Characteristics Of God: Faithfulness, Goodness, Merciful, Gracious And Love

God Is Good – February 16, 2016

Psalm 25:8, Good and upright is the Lord; therefore He instructs sinners in His ways.

Psalm 34:8, Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him.

This week, I’m wanting to sharing with you five biblical characteristics of God to help us know Him better. Yesterday, we said that the first characteristic of God was that He is FAITHFUL. The second one is, God is GOOD. The Psalmist said, “Good and upright is the Lord; therefore He instructs sinners in His ways” (Psalm 25:8). Did you get that? God is good and upright, and He instruct sinners in His ways. That word sinner simply means to miss the mark, and on occasion, we all miss the mark with something we say or do. Perhaps we even miss the mark a lot more than just occasionally. However, when we aren’t good or upright, God is, and He always desires to instruct us in His ways. But far too often, we reject God’s instruction and that leads to more wrong actions that lead to bitter outcomes.

If instead we would simply listen to God and trust His goodness, we would enjoy more of the sweetness of life. Read what the Bible says in Psalm 34:8, “Taste and see that the Lord is good…” Did you get that? There’s that word again, good. So today, get a taste of the goodness of God by following His instructions for your life. And if you do, chances are today will be a little sweeter than the day before.

Think about it…and have a blessed day!
