Peace On Earth…Really? – December 29, 2015

It’s ironic that the phrase “Peace on Earth” appears so often during an American Christmas season, because it is precisely what Americans seem to endlessly pursue, while it is the thing that we most often fail to acquire. America is now the most anxious nation in the world, according to the National Institute of Mental Health, and it begins while we are young. Psychologists point out that the average high school kid today has the same level of anxiety as the average psychiatric patient in the early 1950’s. Evidently, according to the experts, we don’t have enough connection with friends and family and we take in way too much information leading to data overload disorder. Despite all of this, there is still a true and hopeful message ringing through the air, “Peace on Earth.” Jesus, the Prince of Peace, told His followers as He was about to leave them, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give you.”

May God’s peace fill your hearts and home for the remainder of the Holidays.
