Is Jesus a Liar, a Lunatic or the One True God? – October 13, 2015

John 1:1, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:14, The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Sunday, I delivered a message entitled “Is Jesus Really God?” To truly know Jesus, we must first learn from those who knew Him well. Over the years many people have tried to reduce Jesus to simply a good moral teacher. In his book, Mere Christianity, C.S. Lewis said you cannot reduce Jesus to a good moral teacher because Jesus claimed to be God, He claimed to be equal with God. C.S. Lewis pointed out that Jesus is either who He said He was, or He was a liar or a lunatic. Therefore, if Jesus was who He said He was, He is God. If Jesus was not who He said He was, He was either deceived or a deceiver. If Jesus was deceived or a deceiver, He can’t be a good or a moral teacher.

So, the question remains, is Jesus God? Here is what the Bible says, “In the beginning was the Word(Jesus), and the Word(Jesus) was with God, and the Word(Jesus) was God…The Word(Jesus) became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:1;14).

Think about it, and have a blessed day!
