Explore God: Who Is Jesus? – October 12, 2015
Matthew 16:15, “But what about you?” He asked. “Who do you say I am?” 16Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
John 14:6, Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
Yesterday, I delivered a message entitled “Is Jesus Really God?” To truly know Jesus, we must first learn from those who knew Him well. Many people today claim Jesus was a good moral teacher but a man and nothing else. However, even Jesus Himself said in Luke 18:19, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good—except God alone.” At one point Jesus asked His disciples, “Who do people say I am?” They responded with a litany of answers similar to current popular responses. However, He then asked the men with whom He lived His daily life on earth, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter, one of three men closest to Jesus, answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God” (Matthew 16:13-16).
Peter recognized who Jesus really was, the Messiah, the Son of the living God. Jesus revealed Himself to the apostles as the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6); the Son of God (John 17:1); the one who was, and is, and is to come (Revelation 1:8), and He continues to reveal Himself as such to His followers today. So, is Jesus God? Absolutely.
Think about it…and have a blessed day!
