Christians Take Themselves Too Seriously Or Don’t Have A Sense Of Humor.

Proverbs 11:22 Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout is a beautiful woman who shows no discretion.
Proverbs 27:14 If a man loudly blesses his neighbor early in the morning, it will be taken as a curse.
Proverbs 15:30 A cheerful look brings joy to the heart…
Proverbs 16:24 Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.
Recently, I read an article listing five reasons why people do not like most Christians. If you missed the first three reasons, you can find them on my daily blog @ www.johnmarkcaton.com. A fourth reasons people hate Christians is because they claim that Christians do NOT have a sense of humor. Honestly, that is funny because over and over again the Bible says that Christians ought to be the happiest and most joyful people on the planet. However, it is also true that some Christians need to laugh a lot more.
Take the book of Proverbs, it isa funny book at times. Just try reading it out loud in a group; it is pretty difficult not to laugh. How about this one, Proverbs 11:22 says, “Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout is a beautiful woman who shows no discretion.” Now that’s funny! Or how about this one in Proverbs 27:14, “If a man loudly blesses his neighbor early in the morning, it will be taken as a curse.” In other words, not everyone is a morning person. But the truth is, Christians need to be the most cheerful people on the planet. Read Proverbs 15:30, “A cheerful look brings joy to the heart…” Or here’s another one, Proverbs 16:24, “Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.”
Why is is that some Christians are so serious? Honestly, I am not sure. Maybe they are too focused on the rules and not true faith. Maybe they are going through a struggle that they have not given to their Savior. Maybe they are afraid that if they loosen up a bit, they might fail in some way. All of these excuses result from a lack of true, honest, complete FAITH in Jesus.
So, today make sure to load up on joy and carry your sense of humor with you, and everyone will be better off for it.
Think about it…and have a blessed day!
