Work For God, Not Man – February 7, 2017

Colossians 3:23, Work hard and cheerfully at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the master you are serving is Christ.

I’ve been teaching a series at Cottonwood Creek entitled, “Life Matters More When We Honor God!” When we look at Scripture one of the most important areas which we can honor God is through our work or our vocation. This week I want to share with you five Biblical principles about our work. If you missed my previous thought, you can find it on my daily blog, www.johnmarkcaton.com.
Biblical principle number two is, I must remember that I ultimately work for God and not man. Colossians 3:23, “Work hard and cheerfully at whatever you do, as though you were working for Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the master you are serving is Christ.”

The truth is you are not really working for your company, your boss or a board. You are working for your real Master, God. It really doesn’t matter what career path you have chosen as long as it’s not unbiblical or immoral, God is your ultimate boss. After all, it was God who created us with our specific set of skills, abilities and passions. As you head to the office today, work enthusiastically and for God!

Take care and have a blessed day!
